What exactly is this "Evo" that the aco wants to go too in lmp1? Second, I take it the porsche rs spyder evo is just a name and not an actual evo?

"EVO" as in reference to the ACO LM P-1 ruleset is; what for about a year or year and a half now the ACO has been considering as a ruleset that would make coupes mandatory in all P-1 chassis forward and that would allow through enacting of rule(s) the ability of the major players in the auto industry to have brand recognition (grille etc.) ala GTP but not to that extent (would allow non-production cars also). They have backed off of it somewhat but have not fully scuttled the plans of yet (at least publicly) and still maintain that ther will be an ultimate low lap time of 3:30 that will be maintained by aero adjustments so IMO they will not go away totally. Many coupes are already in the works and by easing the timeline a little they allow the P-1 roadsters a full life-cycle.
And yes the Porsche is just an EVO of their car, not of the forementioned ruleset. Hope this helps in somewhat enlightening you on the subject!

Just joking. Thanks Horndawg. So the closed top is considered the "EVO". From a non-motorsports fan perspective, like my wife, she will be confused between the DP's and lmp1's now.
No it is not as simple as saying the Coupes are "EVO's" because the current coupes that you see in P-1 are not "EVO" per se. The front end of the "EVO" will/would be much different than that of the semi F-1 raised nose we see in the current cars. ala this rendering (not official at all, someones thought based on what little was said about the coc.kpit structure rules) link and IMO there is a vast difference between it and a DP!

Ok, ya I thought the 908 and the new Lola in the lms was "EVO" but yeah I can see the nose is still current lmp style. When the rules do come out the future will be interesting.
The GT1 Corvettes would continue the confusion..."I thought you said prototypes were faster than GTs??"
Hell the Risi Ferrari would have qualified 8th on the DP grid last year at Mid-Ohio
So, what she needs to know, basically, is, DP's are not "prototypical", speed is less than LMP1, LMP2, GT1, and equal to some better prepped/ driven GT2's.
