John Thawley's post about his slot car hobby http://www.theraceforums.com/forums/...bler-cure.html made me think about my sim racing hobby. It is similar in that both of these hobbies incorporate our passion for motor sports.

I think John wanted to share some information and also try to get a few more people interested in participating. There is a shared joy in shared experiences. I thought that I would do the same thing, except my hobby is Live...

Portland... Land O' Birkenstocks and Beer

As most of you will find out, I am an adamant believer that Portland (specifically, PIR) is a great place for an ALMS race. But, I am prejudice because I live 1.5 hours south of Portland.

My first ever experience with racing was at PIR. I went because a friend wanted me to go with him and because World Challenge was one of the support races. I had been following WC for a while and I liked the racing. They had BMW's in both GT and Touring that year and I am a BMW nut. Watching Bill...

So I use the "tag" or user name of Hallen on a lot of forums. Some may wonder... or not, where it comes from. I am happy to use my real name too; I generally put it in my signature at the bottom of posts.

The name "Hallen" comes from my real name. It is a twist on the old phrase "Haulin' " as in Hauling B@lls which is an American phrase for moving fast.

I honestly don't know how much I will use this blog.

I have a personal blog that I maintain that covers my track days and my misguided attempts at maintaining my car.

I don't have categories on that blog for ALMS and racing, but it is easy enough to add. That blog offers me a lot more flexibility.

However, what my blog does not offer is the community of ALMS fans to share posts with. So, we'll see how this goes...
