Random thoughts could spew forth at any given moment. Be forwarned they'll most likely be inspired by lack of sleep, too much caffine... and/or the occasional single malt scotch. Buckle up.
2007.. The Year in Photos
May take a minute to download... and, with respect to current copyright concerns, music has been replaced with background sounds from Sebring. Enjoy.

| | Nice..........did you have to get permission to use the "sounds recorded at Sebring?" Just busting your chops.... well done, I prefer music though in slide shows... |

| | You know, I spent HOURS listening to pay-per-play canned music.. and it all sounds like McMusic. Nothing grabbed me... and believe me, I listened. This was originally set to Linkin Park's song from Transformers. JT |

| | John, this sounds great but its a tease. Sounds like a practice. Do you have some beginning of the race recordings to send us into the ether? Thanks for pulling me out of work for 5 minutes, it made my day. |

| | There was certainly more variety in that one. I'm more of a straightaway sound guy, so John's captured full speed but with fewer cars. Man I'm picky. Thanks for sharing though. |

| | Enough about the sound (well, I do like the way it's mic-ed in stereo...); the images are a great review of a wonderful season presented in a very user-friendly format to simply play and enjoy. Good work and thanks for sharing! |

| | I have found a new way to enjoy the ambiance back ground 'noise' of this recording. I simply turn it way up while editing news stories at our sister site, trackbytes.com. Almost makes one feel as if I am in the media tower during an event busily working. Now if I could only replicate the smell of race fuel, used up brakes and hot rubber tires..... |

| | Great piece John. I too enjoyed the fact that it was recorded in stereo, Thanks for sharing! |

| | Funny SIteTo really appreciate JT's efforts, one had to see how he 'captured' the sound.... As I was not sure how to capture stereo on my recordings, I brought a tri-pod, with a bar across it and two microphones hooked up...one pointing in one direction, and the other pointing the other way....pretty simple...right? Wrong.... So JT, do tell all how you captured the sounds....I will look for my old pics and see if I have one of him...and his....um....'set up'! ![]() All seriousness, great stuff JT! KM |

| | Actually, I thought it was a fairly simple approach and one the would create a "natural" sound to the stereo. I simply clipped two lavaliere microphones onto my short sleeved shirt... one on each sleeve. I used a 4-track digital recorder and shifted the "pan" on each channel slightly inward... I thought that would bring the audible distance between the microphones closer to space between your ears. I adjusted everything using full over-the-ear "can" styled headphones... then just stood there facing the front stretch from pit lane across from the flag stand. What I like best about the sound on playback, actually came about because it was a test session. I like hearing the mechanics in the background...and the cars off in the distance. I let the recorder run for about 10 minutes... so the approach was more of a "soundscape" ... ultimately, I thought it sounded pretty lifelike. JT |

| | That was amazing. The photos were terrific of course and the audio blew me away. So good that the second time I listed I could tell the first car you hear is a Dyson Porsche. More audio next year John! |
