New media at Miller...at least for me

Posted 11-05-2007 at 03:01 PM by Nick Koske
Ok so...normally at the track, you'd have to pry my DSLR from my cold dead hands...but, this year at Miller I 'borrowed' a video camera and decided to take a bit of video.

So while we're all patiently waiting for next season to start here's some video I shot at Miller. First bit of video is from the Thurs. test session (nice sunset in the background at the end of the session), then a little bit on the Klein Tools Pit Challenge (watch Nishy stall the R10 getting into the pit stall), and lastly a bit of a prototype only practice from 'Release'. Hopefully the sights and sounds will minimize the off-season withdrawal pains for those addicted like myself.

Cool stuff, Nick. Video can be a lot of fun... but, a lot of work too. I dabbled with it using a Canon XL1s (I think that was the model) big on the shoulder deal.. but beautiful camera. It didn't take but a few projects for me to realize I had jumped in WAY over the top. I did have a couple of nice projects with it... complete with voice overs, music, fades, titles etc. But it became very apparent that if you want a good half hour of video, you need about 5 hours of footage. You need a plan... a story board of sorts... and a LOT of editing time. I ended up selling the camera and getting a little Canon handheld. LOL
