Default H2O Car

Not sure when I saw this, thought it was on 60 Minutes or something, but a guy who had perfected the running of an engine on water....

This article today though is very interesting...and who knows what I will be filling up my car with in a few years....

Honda will introduce a state-of-the-art hydrogen-powered car in the United States next year, offering a glimpse of the next generation of environmentally friendly vehicles, officials said Wednesday.

Not to be a downer, but the hydrogen fuel cell car has been around for a while. Believe it or not, but GM lead that movement about ten years ago. Unfortunately, still nothing to put in them.

I'll drive whatever, just as long as it sounds cool.

...they planned to offer the zero-emissions FCX Clarity...

What about the emmisions to create the Hydrogen...I guess those don't count.

I've never thought about that. What are the byproduct of producing hydrogen?

I don't know for sure, but if it is hydrolysis, then you break water up into Hydrogen and Oxygen. But, you need gobs of electricity to make this work.

To get the electricity you can burn coal. Or, like here in the Pacific NW, you build dams and do Hydroelectric power (oh, wait. They won't let us build more dams and want to tear down the ones we have). Then you are on to burning garbage (whoops, more pollutants into the air), uh... what else? Wind and solar don't produce enough. Nuclear would work though.

I think the big issue is that you use more power to create the hydrogen then you get from burning it.

BMW has had a Hydrogen powered 7 series out for a while now.
