| I see your point, but perhaps this is good because of a new manufacturer in the series, albiet as a spec engine supplier. I am sure GM isnt pleased as a long time supporter of the ALMS, but I believe they have recieved alot from being in the series too.
can you post a link to this news?
thanks

Well another Mfg. in the series would be great! Especially a U.S. Mfg. But, they are not in the series, nor would be. This is a supposed third party (Elan Technologies) using (buying) the Ford engines and building them for the class. My point being in this, that Ford, with no investment in the series what so ever will get recognition for this. I know that it will not be directly stated, or so some have said. The fact remains, when being described on tv or wherever, it will be described as a Ford powered car. Colateral advertising! For free and, IMO, an affront to GM who has supported the series.
There is no 'news' to link to here, as this is gathered info from several places. There is some mention of it at the Bear though. I just bring it up so maybe it gets some exposure and someone may actually see that such things do get noticed and maybe....

| Again, I agree with your point. I think the ALMS will spin this as another manufacturer getting involved in the series. A bad thing? No. An intrusion on GM and all of their years of involvment? Perhaps. But since this is in no way a direct on-track conflict the average fan wont notice one way or the other. Just a chance for marketing to tout the series which is a good thing even if on somewhat of a "slant". Let GM make GT2 Vettes available for purchase, let them make money that way.
From a strictly personnal desire, I hope every one of these spec cars sounds like the Panoz LMP. How wonderful would that be? If not then a different engine sound on the track than the Vettes is almost as good. Also, if this helps get Elan as a business turned in the right direction then that is good too.
I respect you dude, been reading your posts for years. Just my take on it.

| Well it just keeps on getting described as a 6.2L Corvette LS3, so...
Also it seems that the demo ride drivers were quite pleased with it on Sunday! Here

| Marshall has a good piece on the FLM09 (LMPC-10) Here which also includes an in car video. It seems from the article that it is the LS3 6.2L engine that will come in the FLM09 (LMPC-10) and Elan has the rebuild contract on the engines. So there should be no problem for inter series racing, the only niggle may be the headlights that are not required in the FLMS, unless there is to be a retro kit to install them in the older models. Or buy the new nose with the lights for the car.

| According to DSC, there could be 5 or 6 LMPC cars on the grid at Sebring. |
