Default First Official Images of Aston Martin Vantage GT2

Planetlemans.com | First official images of Aston Martin Vantage GT2

Debut race is Catalunya with James Watt Automotive, so I assume Drayson-Barwell will receive one very soon.

While I am very glad to see the Vantage GT-2 come to completion and Aston Martin in GT-2. I truly wonder how the frack they are allowed to get away with running that large of a front splitter?! One of the first problems that LG ran into was a lack of frt down force, that being able to run that big of a splitter would of alleviated.

That's a good looking race car.

It does have a large splitter and a substaintial looking rear diffuser. I thought there were rules that the splitter couldn't extend more than a certain difference from the nose. That's why the Vette and Panoz have the funny looking valence. Very cool car either way.

Yes I agree that the car looks good. But by rule (Art. 3.4.1) the splitter may not protrude beyond the bodywork (overhangs) as seen from above. Among other things. link

I wish the Vantage had its own taillights (rather than a pair shared with the DB9)

Well lets hope that the withdrawal of the Gigawave Vantage GT-2 from FIA GT and the engine malady that forced JWA to withdraw at Ctalunya is not a harbinger of ill for the car in these early stages of its life. I for one wish to see the Drayson Barwell car perform well on the ALMS grids this year.

Well it seems that Gigawave at this moment has decided to concentrate on the DBR9 in FIA GT-1 since the Vantage GT-2 is so late in coming to fruition at/from Prodrive. They will bring the Vantage GT-2 program to the grid when they have had the time to sort it to a certain level of preparedness.

LG was given a break on the front splitter in GT2 @ Long Beach. Their front splitter now extends beyond the front body work. I asked LG at the race, and he told me they applied for (and got) an exception.

Perhaps the Vantage is the same way?

Yes it is. Prodrive filed for the waiver as part of the homologation process and was granted 100mm. From the pictures that I have seen of Lou's car from St. Pete it does not look like the 100 mm that the Vantage got. It would be nice if Lou got that big of an allowance so that Riley could re-homologate the car with the stock type nose and gain some front aero back as well.
