Default Shanghai race canceled by ACO

With the ACO canceling the Asian LeMans Series preview race at Shanghai in November how adversely will this effect the (possible) car count at PLM and Laguna?

Have they given any specific reasons for the cancellation? Lack of entries perhaps?

Why would a few back markers from Europe color a decision. The top ten LMP cars in the ALMS maybe the best road racing show on earth! How could you have a better race than last years PLM?
I was at Silverstone last year with 50+ cars---Boring!!
It isn't car count.

I agree last year's PLM was amazing! That is why I want to go again. It is nice to see some different cars on the grids, Sebring this year was cool seeing the 908 and the Horag Spyder. I like to cheer for the Zytecs too. Having different cars on the grid adds a new dynamic, Laguna Seca '06 had a Zytec on pole and last years PLM had the MC12 on pole in GT1. I will still do PLM most likely but will probably skip Laguna Seca and do the IndyCar race just announced in Edmonton instead. ALMS is the best I agree, but one needs a fill of open wheel from time to time as well.

Murphy's latest post is now up and seems to indicate a high quality, high car count for PLM and Laguna Seca.
