Gotta tell ya... this guy is just great. I remember him coming into CART and meeting him at the old Chicago Speedway. He absolutely lights up a room. Fun, easy going and happy to be here.
Funny... the IRL puts all their eggs in that snarky no-personality Danika, and Helio is everything you could want in a personality. I watched the last two weeks of the show... he was fantastic. And the best part, he was himself. He had no fear of the stage and was completely at ease and having a ball.
He was also on Good Morning America this morning having a great time. The "Chase" drivers where also on as part of NASCAR's New York awards ceremony and they were having a ball cutting up with Helio... I can't get over how much this guy is genuinely liked.
Last night, during the show, they played taped interviews with his sister, Sam Hornish, Gil De Ferran, Tim Cedric and Roger Penske. It was so apparent that they all think the world of this guy.
The IRL should write him a big fat check and run with this. He handled himself like a pro. I couldn't be happier for him. |
