NASCAR didn't want that. They wanted to level the field and dumb it down just a bit more.
But, I agree that it would make it a little more interesting if good old American muscle cars were out there again... even if they are just tube frame knock-offs. |
Good point, there would need to be some kind of performance balancing like we see in the ALMS to prevent it dominated by one make.
I can see the problem NASCAR faced as they really needed to replace the current cars after the fatalities in the early 2000s. If anything the CoT is NASCAR's equivalent of the grooved tyres and narrower cars that were introduced in F1 10 years ago. They'd reached the point that other forms of racing had years before, where they had to start changing the rules evey now and then to keep the cars within a certain range of speed,
