The ACO have announced that the 78th running of the 24 Heures du Mans will take place on June 12th - 13th, 2010.

Today, it is time to think about the next “24 Heures du Mans”, which will take place on 12th and 13th June, 2010. Peugeot has already announced its intention to defend its title, and is waiting to take on the challengers to the crown. The complete list of the teams automatically invited by the ACO will be published after the Asian Le Mans Series (in Japan) on 1st November. Once again, the line-up promises to be exceptional, both in the Prototype and GT categories. Don’t miss the 78th edition of the “24 Heures du Mans”, the last opportunity to see the evolution of the present prototypes and GTs, since a new technical rule will be coming into force as from 2011.

Well now that the ALMS has declared there will be no GT-1 class in 2010 the ACO has undercut them once again and will allow the "FIA WGT-1"s to race in everything else. LMS, AsianLMS, and the 2010 Le Mans. Here One would have hope that after killing the class that the ACO would have come to this revelation sooner instead of having their heads firmly planted up their derrieres!

The ACO has released the list of auto-invites. Seems a little odd that the P-2 winner at Petit is excluded for not running the 09 wing, yet the season winner in the ALMS was included while running the non compliant wing all year. Here

Audi will be there. I am glad we'll finally get to see the MC12 run at Le Mans although I am disgusted the new tube frame GT1's are going to be allowed. I wonder if Salo will come back to Risi just for this race to defend?

Yes the list is somewhat out of sorts for what is the current usual cast of characters, Corvette is on the list though.

I cannot seem to get excited at all with the GT-1 class for 2010. It is a farce to me, they kill the previous class and then allow them back in a neutered state, and in the process prop up Ratel and his GTWC which is contrary to the wish of the GT mfgs that service/support the ACO style/class of racing. It's BS plain and simple! I hope it blows up in their face!!
