This is the list of Auto-invites that have taken up their invitations. link

Official invitations : 21 confirmations
vendredi 18 janvier 2008 - 11h54

Twenty-seven competitors were automatically invited to take part in the 2008 Le Mans 24 Hours. Twenty-one confirmed their entry in their respective categories before the expiry date of 7th January 2008 fixed by the ACO.

Six entrants have not validated their automatic invitations for the 2008 24 Hours.

- Penske Racing: 1st in the 2007 Petit Le Mans and the ALMS LM P2 category (Porsche RS Spyder). The American team has decided to target the 2008 ALMS Championship.

- Vitaphone and Scuderia Playteam Sarafree: The Maserati MC12s first and second in the FIA GT1 Championship do not comply with the ACO regulations.

- Binnie Motorsports: 1st in LM P2 in the 2007 Le Mans 24 Hours (Lola B05/40-Zytek). Bill Binnie, the team owner, has been obliged to withdraw for personal reasons.

- Oreca: 1st in LM GT1 in the 2007 Le Mans Series with a Saleen S7R the team, which has since been renamed Oreca-Courage, has announced that it will change categories, and will send in an entry form in the LM P1 category.

This means that there are still 34 places to be awarded, as the ACO supplementary regulations state that 55 entrants will be invited to take part in the test day on 1st June (plus 8 reserves).

It is now up to those teams wishing to enter to send in their entry forms to the ACO Selection Committee before Wednesday 23rd January 2008 midnight, the deadline for reception of these forms.

I wonder if Dyson might think about going this year. They've got as good an LMP2 as anyone and more experience with it than the other 2 teams hoping to run them.

I really do not think it is in their budget. I know Rob has the money if he wanted to spend it but with their withdawl from Garra this year I just do not know if he is willing to spend the money on LeMans or if he is more interested in utilizing funds for testing etc... in an effort to best Penske and Acura.

Well not to discount the Creation's incident at Monza, and it is good that J C-W is ok, but it looks as if the car was not a total. It appears to start rather oddly with what appears to be rear tire smoke from either brake lock up or something seized in the drive train.? I hope that this will not affect Autocons ability to get in the car and adjusted before the Le Mans tests.

Here is another angle of the creation crash.

I hope the creation can do well at the 24 hours. And best wishes to JCW.

Autocon Ready for 24 Hours of Le Mans

The team will be partnering the England-based Creation factory team throughout, and will use its blue CAH08 chassis rather than the grey and orange CAH06 chassis that Autocon campaigns in the American Le Mans Series. The front suspension and rear assembly of the car will be from Autocon’s US-based racer, including the gearbox and Le Mans-proven Judd power plant.

The Creation car that Autocon will campaign around the amazing 8-mile circuit recently finished 4th overall at Monza in Le Mans Endurance Series events. And while the team colors will be different for the event, the sponsors will be the same in JEANRICHARD, and Cyclo and its familiar product brands.

Interestingly, and completely coincidently, Autocon will be car #23, which is the same number McMurry and Willman ran under in 2003. An omen of good luck, the team hopes.

As soon as the kids are out of high school I'm heading over to this race. The wife already knows she's going. I really, really want to see those LMP1 cars flying down the mulsanne straight.

As I get older, I find myself enjoying sports car racing more and more.

Racing wise, going last year (finally) was one of the best things I've ever done.

The de Ferran Motorsport rookie phenom, Simon Pagenaud, will be in the # 6 ORECA/Courage Matmut LC70. He will be teamed with Olivier Panis and Nicolas Lapierre.
