Why I thought ABC's coverage sucked...

Some of the cameramen spent a lot of time shooting the empty track...

If I heard what the weight difference was between the Audi and the RS Spyder again I was going to vomit....

I really would have liked to find out what the standings were throughout all the classes....

I really would have liked to see the class leaders come across the finish line...

Couldn't agree more. I got the feeling it was the first time for some of these camera people. They'd be shooting empty track, a car would enter their "section" of the track and would zip right by. They would whip the camera around to catch the tail of the car leaving their section. Apparently someone forgot to teach them the finier points of panning. It DID get better as the race went on, but man was it annoying at the start.

Other than that: What a great race!

How could you tell? I got nothing form that broadcast at all. This deal with ABC is doing nothing for the series. It's embarrassing.

Thumbs down

Ya, I hate to beat the same drum... From the very beginning of the deal which saw the race reduced in duration, to not scheduling it in a time slot that could be broadcast live coast to coast, to quality of the camera work and editing/production it was pretty much in the porta-pottie!! I made my thoughts known to persons that are actually responsible for said things, rather nicely I might add, and got nothing but hiding behind the fine print while passing the buck. Absolutely disgusting. I know that there are things that need to be taken into consideration but it clearly was a cluster f--- when this plan hit the ground. "World Class" "For the Fans" what a total disappointment!

Obvioulsy, I was not in a position to see the actual broadcast. However, I have to disagree with the argument it should be live coast-to-coast. The Saturday afternoon time slot is much stronger than the morning.... regardless of the coast. I know die-hard fans will get up at 4am to watch F1 from Dubai or something... but ABC Sports at 1:30PM is a plus.. on EITHER coast.

On the West Coast the race started the same time the NCAA Memphis UCLA game did. Which is brilliant thinking on the executives. After seeing so-so camera quality at the start of the race I turned it over to the basketball game. I'm sure Mr. May would have done the same thing if Ohio St. played at the same time an alms race did? No scratch that he'd probably be at the Ohio St. game.
