Default SB Quali

I know it was in the rules but what does everyone else think about 08's Sebring Qualify. I feel it was a major let down and should be changed. I'm not angry about it because the rules are rules but it just didn't seem to be in the best interest of the sport. I wish quali could be on tv after reading about Marco Andretti and his amazing practice runs into turn 1 the day before.

Anyhow, just wondering what others and the "veterans" of this sport thought.

I think its a 12 hour race and qualifying doesn't really matter at all...

It sucked...I was really looking forward to seeing the P cars go at it and now we don't even get to see them start from the back and weave through the back.

Tafel makes out like a bandits from 5th and 6th to 2th and 4th. Farnbacher and the Lizards get screwed. I know it's in the rules as well but if the GT cars finish their session why throw their times out...what the logic there. Seems like a rule that needs to get rewritten.

Qualifying is part of the show...and we the fans got screwed on that one. Sure would be nice if the red flag stops the time...keep the teams from working on the cars, fine...but I want to see the qualifying. It can be really exciting....see Long Beach last year.

Taking practice times is lame because most teams don't practice with new tires and qualifying amounts of fuel. Cars are also not purposely trying to get 'room' to get a clean lap. Most divers have said they hadn't had a clean lap in any of the practices.

Sure it doesn't matter in a 12 hour race...but the same rule would apply to a 90min Long Beach race where it would matter. Just because it is...doesn't mean it's right.
