Found out today that they'll be trying something interesting with the fencing along the uphill-putting some new stuff in close to the track, then a secondary fence to limit the camping area.
For example, along the Reserved RV sites, the existing fence was left in place; but new posts have been placed about 20 feet closer to the track (only 15 feet from the new armco). Between them will be walking and spectating space only. A similar configuration will continue back towards the Uphill until the "inside fence" terminates near station 7.

Interesting. As long as they don't eliminate even more space in the camping area doing it - its too crowded as it is!

It sounds as if that will provide excellent viewing and photo opportunities, considering the spectator viewing area in the uphill will be right above the track. Any idea if the new fencing will be short enough to shoot over?

I think it'll be about the same.
I've always liked the track's fencing because it's not plain old chain link stuff, but with my height at ~5'10" it's right at eye level-with barbed wire nonetheless, perfect for scratching up a camera!
When I went to Watkins Glen last month I was pleased to have the fencing (regular as it may be) at only about chest height-great for amateur photography (though then you get the "extra rail" of armco in the way-which may still be a problem with the new viewing areas at Lime Rock now).
