The RS Spyder ran the Aero wheels in quali at Petit as well but were not allowed to use them in the race.
The TV coverage of the Laguna Seca race was awful! They showed way too much yellow and not nearly enough of the field. I prefer races on SPEED much better.

That's what I don't get; if Wheeler is the production company for ALL of the ALMS races, why does the NBC product look like $hit?

This has been the case on several occasions. As I am not sure of the heirarchy of it please excuse, but, it seems that Wheeler is responsible for the feed (raw) and someone else is putting it together (director, producer??) for NBC. Because there is such a disparity in the end productions.

It's really too bad, since ALMS is putting up the money, they really should have final say.

Sometimes it's not the production quality of the race, which I agree was bad.But also the fact the races aren't live really pisses me off. I have a new idea for SPEED. SPEED 1 and SPEED 2. SPEED 1 could be for NA$CAR, and SPEED 2 could be for the real race fans.

Well, I finally had a chance to sit and watch it all last night. Negative: Bill and Wally and everyone else with a mic and a NBC firesuit,(except Calvin, see below). Bad cut-away timing (especially since they edited it). Didn't show much (any?) of the GT race. 4 hours edited to less than 2.
Positive: Didn't show a lot of yellow laps (since they edited it), Calvin, Calvin, Calvin. The ONLY smart thing to come out of Bill's mouth was when he was throwing it to Calvin.

Well said porschefan... lol. I finally sat down and watched the broadcast and I'm not sure what I just saw. I was overjoyed with happiness when I heard back to you Calvin.

Well the broadcast was bad, but it only followed the race in a sense, IMO. It is clearly evident that Laguna needs to fix the problems that created so many yellows during the race. I am a Laguna fan, first Sports Car race I ever attended was there, a long time ago! But this is something that needs fixing, period, making the excuse that it is a problem at other tracks is... I will Agree that it needs to be addressed at several tracks but nowhere was the problem as bad as it was at Laguna this year. I am not opposed to full course cautions for the safety of the workers to clear cars etc.. But work to the track is needed to aleve all the problems created by the traps and low curbs that lead to the FCYs. That they are there for (supposedly) the bikes, is also an old excuse as the safety designs have moved on, proven by the fact there is more run-off before traps at other tracks all around the world where the bikes run.

Another thing that would help everywhere is if the ALMS safety/recovery crew were to be expanded so there were more crews and recovery vehicles that traveled with the series and could augment the local crews. Also better coordination between the two entities for placement of personnel at the trouble spots to expediate the recovery process.
