Default Very sad news... Our Condolences

This piece of sad news just came to me via Daily Sports Car. I/m reposting it here, not to take from DSC, rather to be accurate in the report.

Many of us have come to know Tom and Jeannie over the years, and if there is one thing we all knew... Tom and Jeannie were constant companions. It saddens me to know Tom has lost his best friend.

I know I speak for everyone in the American Le Mans Series family and circle of friends, in offering my sincere condolences. Please keep Tom in your thoughts and prayers.

Tom Kjos has produced many tens of thousands of words for dailysportscar, largely covering the ALMS, over the course of many seasons.

Many of his reports were illustrated by images taken by Jeannie Kjos, who typically accompanied Tom to almost every event.

Sadly, poor Jeannie passed away at the end of last week. She had been ill for some weeks, and initially Tom was hopeful that she would make a full recovery – but that wasn’t the case, and she slipped away during the evening of November 29.

It was actually Jeannie who was responsible for the involvement of ‘The Bear’ in sportscar racing journalism on the web, because she found the little chap in a Sonoma bed and breakfast in 2004, and immediately adopted him. His first race was just a week later at Laguna Seca, though he didn’t write his first column until July 2005.

Jeannie's funeral service takes place tomorrow, December 5, at
