Ferrari to Le Mans?

Ferrari is extremely unhappy with the new F1 regulations. Could we see them develop a new prototype?

I'd like to see them do a 3-4 year LMP1 project, maybe sell a couple of them for privateers to run afterwards.

Could it happen? Yes. Is it likely to happen? Highly unlikely! It is more than likely that this is just more political posturing from di Montezemolo and Ferrari with/against Bernie and the FIA.

I don't think it's a case of either/or. I believe that if they were to look at running in sportcars it would be independent of their F1 ambitions (fully agree that they are posturing) and perhaps customer driven like the 333SP or the Porsche RS Spyder.

There is supposedly an Alonso/Ferrari deal (heard it in practice for Monaco GP)

Alonso is attending Le Mans


If Ferrari leaves F1, they'll be doing some endurance racing.

I agree corvettefan and Alonso at Le Mans in a Ferrari would be amazing to see IMO! In the meantime I will cheer for Verstappen in the Aston. Only 3 weeks till the greatest LMP1 battle ever.

Hmm, a little more on the musings/rumblings coming from the Continent in the last week.

It is the brainchild of Olivier Quesnel, mentioned in Le Mans: establish a kind of World Cup with two endurance races of 24 hours, including Le Mans, and two courses of 12 hours, Sebring (United States USA). Peugeot proposes that the other two take place in Brazil (Interlagos) and China, for obvious reasons.
