Default HPD (formerly Acura) Teams 2010 and beyond

Well in Gil's retirement piece he states that he does wish to stay in the ALMS and actually expand to 2 cars. It has also been said that Patron Highcroft will be in the series in 2010. So I guess the question is will Acura be here, as rumor has them going to the IRL, but at this point it is rumor. With Gil's connection to Honda/Acura one would think if he is to stay it will be in an Acura, so...?

I really hope they have some competition next if they decide to stay. P1 is really boring this year.

Hmm, Some thoughts from Tom Anderson (Lowes Fernandez) on next year.
Quote:
Anderson would like to continue in ALMS because the team owns all of its equipment except for engines. Acura has told the team it can lease engines for next season but will no longer be a factory-supported operation.
Quote:
Anderson indicated he is not close to an IndyCar deal right now and is closer to an ALMS deal but said there are a few months left to put a deal together for 2010.

Surely the Lowe's Mexico money will follow Fernandez wherever he ends up. I think it won't be a matter of IF he will race but WHERE he will race. I hope they stay in P2.

Le Mans outlook:

Well Patrón Highcroft Racing, Duncan Dayton, has said that "We are 100 per cent committed to the ALMS. Sportscar racing will always be the soul of Patrón Highcroft Racing" also "Le Mans is a very big goal for us. Not just to compete, but we are very focused on winning the biggest sportscar race in the world"

With Gil also expressed a desire to remain in Sportscars and expand in 2010 to a 2 car team.

Lowes Fernandez is also closer to a deal in Sportscars and the ALMS than IRL and will not be a factory team in 2010. So if the program continues I would suspect we will see at least an Acura ARX-01b.

The P-1's are suspect at this time, just as all mfg programs are, per se. It is fairly clear that we will see Patrón Highcroft either way. Gil, to me seems much more tied to Acura (Honda), so we will have to see where those chips fall I guess.

Excellent news. Good to see such commitment to the series, regardless of what they will be driving.

Gil to be on wind tunnel tonight, at 6pm Eastern, and will evidently include next years plans in the interview/appearance along with PLM and the Renault saga.

AUTO-RACING - ALMS: Acura Offering Car Sales, Engine Leases - SPEEDtv.com
Acura to offer up to 4 leases for their engines next year, not necessarily for Acura chassis. Strakka has already bought the Fernandez P2 car so hopefully they don't all end up in Europe.
