So why is there no ALMS series winner in the auto invites? Is it because Corvette was the only team registered as a complete season entrant? Also how is it determined, in this case with Corvette, which slots will be awarded to someone when they have won more than the max of 2 per team. As if the ALMS winner was awarded to Corvette would it have dropped farther down the LeMans list to the next in line?

Here's the rule:-
1st and 2nd at 2007 Le Mans in each category
1st and 2nd in 2007 LMS in each category
1st at 2007 Petit Le mans in each category
1st in 2007 ALMS or 2nd in ALMS in each category if winner also won Petit Le Mans
1st and 2nd in 2007 FIA-GT in GT1 & GT2

(In that order)

So PLM takes it over ALMS but of course there was no 2nd in ALMS GT1 - just look @ the ALMS score sheet -

http://www.americanlemans.com/Compet...aspx?Class=GT1

So there are 27 invites instead of the allowed 28...

O.K. so with that being the order of awarding and with further searching the IMSA rule;

Quote:
IMSA will recognize a Team champion (Entrant) in the “LM”P1, “LM”P2, GT1 and
GT2 classes. The championship will be based on the total points earned by the
highest finishing car of those entered by a single “full season”, Series Entrant in
each ALMS series race in North America. The maximum number of entries which
may be entered by an Entrant per event in any class is two (2).
it becomes evident since Corvette Racing was the only full season entrant that there was no points awarded to any one else for the ALMS team championship.

Well it would seem that Autocon wishes to take up the invite as well as upgrading the Creation. Link

Well it looks like 67 applications above the 21 pre selections for a total of 88, wow! With only 34 grid slots and 8 reservse (42 totoal) that means 25 will be denied this year. link
