Default Lexus "back" in GT2?

Can anyone make any sense of these stories?

Team Lexus IS-F to Enter GT2 Le Mans Series

And

Lexus IS-F Racing Concept at Tokyo Auto Salon

The first one is the 2006 car that never happened but promised for Sebring, the second looks more like a DTM car - but read the stories - is someone getting confused?

I certainly am

Is that first article actually new? I didn't see a date on it and it doesn't really make reference to a current date (eg "for the 2008 season").
The writer also seems to think the car will be competing against BMW's in the ALMS, which is confusing since we know nothing of a BMW for this year.

The second article implies that the car is for the Japanese GT series, which I would think would be much more likely.

I would certainly welcome another competitor in GT2 in the ALMS though. I won't hold my breath, but I will hope.

Posted on Jalopnik today.

Racing News: Team Lexus Entering ALMS GT2 With Lexus IS 350 GT2

It's a pretty worthless article referring to the car as a "Panoz-fighting Lexus 350 GT2". Thanks for playing.

This Friday at the Tokyo Auto Salon Lexus will pull the covers off their latest IS race car. The IS 350 GT2 is powered by a 470+ hp V6 engine and will compete in the American GT2 LeMans Series and not in the German DTM series as many had hoped here in Europe.

The Lexus IS 350 GT2 will make its first appearance at the Twelve Hours of Sebring in Sebring, Fl this March 15-18. Competition will be stiff with the likes of the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, Panoz Esperante, Ferrari F430 GT, Dodge Viper Competition Coupe and BMW M3.

“Developing and racing two brand-new cars in a new category will be a major challenge, but one that we relish,” said Team Lexus owner/driver Chuck Goldsborough back in 2005. Originally Lexus was planning on entering the GT2 ALMS class back in 2006.

We hope to have more accurate information by the end of the week.
Well if they show up March 15-18 (the 2006 schedule is still on the Team Lexus site and it was the 15-18 in 2006) this year they're going to miss Sebring, as it's the 12th-15th of March. Interesting they're using quotes from 2005 what's the point of that.

How about a more accurate article. I sure hope there is more info by the end of the week, because this article is full of nonsense.

According to the source it was last modified on the 8th...today...so it seems new. It's interesting that it states a Viper and an M3. Had it raced in 2006 it would have been against M3s...not Vipers. If it races this year it's more likely to race against Vipers and not M3s.

Overall a poorly researched piece.

Well at least they're not setting their sights to high.

Wasn't there a rumor of PTG taking over the Lexus Project after it crumbled...could it be??
