Hmm, and what part of "no marketing" is conducive to a longer race, such as the 1000K 6hr LMS type, as it concerns TV (marketing) and the ability to get it to the masses?? Which is tied directly to ROI and the need/ability to market their product! How many street races are there in the ALMS and what % does that represent? I would agree on your take of the gist of the articles at sportscarpros and about the need for some positive news.

I agree fully 6 hour races are brutal for TV. More shorter races in more markets could in theory expose the cars to more eyes, albeit for a shorter time. The problem is that the cars are designed for longer circuits, not point and shoot concrete canyons. Peugeot may not want to risk the unnecessary damage of such tight quarters. I believe that the length of the LMS races would not be an issue for Peugeot if there were more eyes watching them. At least part of the reason fewer eyes watch the LMS is the calibre of drivers is inferior to that of the ALMS. The other reason, as Peugeot believes, is the marketing of the series by the series. Race fans in Europe and the UK and spoiled with so many professional races series that they hardly notice the LMS. I would welcome a series based on 6 hour races, not from a business perspective but as a passionate enthusiast. I think we both think the same business wise, I am merely thinking selfishly as a fan who wants to see as many races as possible with as many cars as possible.

Well it seems that Peugeot has confirmed once again their plan to be at Petit with 2 cars. Here As to Peugeot's car not being designed for street courses, there are only 2 in the schedule at the moment. And what will the 909 look like? One would think that with their stated desires and dislikes they would build a car that would also be capable of competing at point and shoot venues.

Piece at DSC on Peugeot. Petit to be used as a further evaluation of upgrades to the cars, after an indepth study/debrief from Le Mans, being tested in a few weeks. Among other things.
